OSAGE BEACH, MO – DECEMBER 5, 2014: Osage Beach Center for Cognitive Disorders (OBCCD) today announced that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

OBCCD underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site survey on October 17th. During the review, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. Surveyors also conducted on-site observations and interviews.

Osage Beach Center for Cognitive Disorders is a 14-bed adult inpatient treatment program located on the campus of the Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri. OBCCD, independently owned by NHC Reliant Psychiatric Services, LLC, is licensed as a psychiatric hospital and will add a medical specialty that is currently unavailable to the estimated 224, 000 individuals living within the 8-county primary service area of the facility.

OBCCD, with its full complement of licensed mental health professionals, will provide intensive, inpatient treatment for conditions often associated with aging and/or that impact the cognitive abilities or functioning of individuals.

The Joint Commission has accredited hospitals for more than 60 years. More than 4,000 general, children’s, long-term acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation and specialty hospitals currently maintain accreditation from The Joint Commission, awarded for a three-year period. In addition, approximately 360 critical access hospitals maintain accreditation through a separate program.

The event was kicked off with Olin McCormick, CEO/Administrator welcoming the guests followed by remarks from Dave Crane, Board Member of the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Robert Hyatt, Sr. VP of Medical Affairs for Lake Regional Health System, Palmer “Nick” Nichols, Vice President of Membership Services for Missouri Hospital Association, Rep. Rocky Miller, State Representative District 124 and Rep. Diane Franklin, State Representative District 123. Following the ribbon cutting tours of the hospital were given to over 75 guests, refreshments were served and staff members were available to answer questions about the facility.

OBCCD is a new 14-bed neuro-cognitive inpatient treatment facility located on the campus of the Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. While OBCCD is licensed as a free-standing acute care psychiatric hospital, it will be sharing some support and ancillary services with the Rehabilitation and Health Center.

Located in Camden County, OBCCD will add a medical specialty that is currently unavailable to the estimated 224, 000 individuals living within the primary service area of the facility. OBCCD will create approximately 45 new full-time equivalent jobs for the community, most will be highly paid positions that require skill and experience and will generate new tax revenue, including, but not limited to: property, employee payroll, individual income, and sales tax for the local community and the state of Missouri.
